A very special week of episodes to mark the 50th anniversary of the Dales saga kicks off with the residents preparing for the wedding of the year between Kim and Will. But storm clouds are gathering in more ways than one, and as the bride-to-be sets off for one last ride across the countryside, the skies are growing ominously dark – as is her mood.
After a tense confrontation with her fiancé over his feelings for Harriet, the lady of the manor heads to Woodbine Cottage determined to stake her claim on the man they both love, but gets more than she bargained for when the smitten policewoman snaps! Despite everything that’s happened, Kim eventually makes it to the church and the wedding takes place, but as the assembled guests file out of the building, they’re shocked by the ferocity of the weather as the wind really starts to intensify.
Meanwhile, a heavily pregnant Amelia prepares for her picnic date with Noah, but as she fights her way through the increasingly wild gusts, she suddenly goes into labour. Back in the village, Dan panics when he receives a call from his terrified daughter and, as the residents head out into the storm to look for her, Lydia calls at Home Farm to ask for help. Surprisingly, it’s Kim who steps up to the mark, but as she rides through the fields, she spots the tyre tracks left by Harriet’s quad bike and follows her path into the woods.
As the gale continues to rage, Al is faced with an impossible choice when both Chas and Kerry are injured by flying debris, while over at Butler’s, a barn collapses and the panicked cows stampede through the fields. Elsewhere, Nicola and Charles are trapped together in a derelict shelter after a tree crashes to the ground, and waiting at Smithy Cottage, Mary and Marlon are terrified for Rhona’s safety after she fails to return home.
And all the while, the wind is beating a merciless path through the village… Just how much devastation will be wrought in a week that will forever change life in Emmerdale?
